Mr. Coates’ practice concentrates in the areas of complex civil litigation, and administrative and criminal law. Prior to commencing his career in private practice, Mr. Coates served as a Senior Trial Deputy District Attorney for the 17th Judicial District, giving him substantial trial experience and knowledge in criminal matters. He has tried over 85 criminal and civil trials to verdict including first-degree murder cases. His current practice encompasses liquor licensing, business disputes, personal injury matters and criminal defense. Mr. Coates represents numerous retail liquor license applicants and licensees in licensing and enforcement actions.
Mr. Coates has an “AV” rating in the Directory of Lawyers in the United States, published by Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest possible rating for legal ability and ethical standards.
