Representing a Wyoming couple against a national financial institution in Federal District Court in Wyoming, on claims of professional negligence and mismanagement of an investment account previously valued in excess of $10 million. A three-week jury trial in the U.S. District Court resulted in an $8.7 million verdict against the financial institution on behalf our clients. |

Obtaining a settlement in a complex negligence claim on behalf of a family in a National Association of Securities Dealers arbitration proceeding against a large brokerage firm for an amount in excess of $5 million. The merits of the claims of the various family members varied greatly as well as their individual economic circumstances. The settlement allowed each member of the family to realize a substantial recovery on his or her claims without causing family dissension. |

Representing a private citizen who was shot by police after they had responded to a 911 call to the wrong address. The client was initially charged with the crime, and subsequently acquitted. A federal civil rights claim was brought against the police officers and the city for denial of his civil rights and use of excessive force in connection with a false arrest. A settlement in excess of $700,000 was received from the city in this matter. |

Obtaining a defense verdict for an individual accused of broker-dealer violations and securities fraud, involving tens of millions of dollars, in a national coin-operated public payphone “investment contract” transaction. |

In Federal District Court in Colorado, successfully defending a high-tech startup company against claims of an initial investor, including securities fraud, fraud, corporate mismanagement, and breach of fiduciary duty. A judgment was obtained in favor of our client and all claims were dismissed. |
